Simply the best by Tina Turner
"Simply the best" is a greatest hits collection by Tina Turner, released in 1991 by Capitol Records. The album includes the American singer's most popular songs since her comeback in the mid-80s, such as “What's Love Got to Do with It”, “Private Dancer”, “We Don't Need Another Hero” and “ The Best”. It also includes three previously unreleased songs: "Love Thing", "I Want You Near Me" and "Way of the World", as well as a dance version of the classic "Nutbush City Limits". The album is Turner's best-selling album in the UK, where it has sold over two million copies and gone eight platinum. It has sold over seven million copies globally.
My opinion on this album is very positive. I find it to be a complete and varied collection, showing the different facets of Tina Turner's voice and style. I especially like the rockier and more energetic songs, like “The Best”, “Better Be Good to Me” and “Steamy Windows”, but also the more emotional ballads, like “I Don't Wanna Lose You” and “Be Tender with Me Baby”. The unreleased songs are pleasant and fit well into the context of the album. The dance version of “Nutbush City Limits” is fun and updates the original 70's track. Overall, I think this album is a great way to appreciate the talent and career of Tina Turner, one of pop music's greatest icons.
