The Little Mermaid (1989)

The Little Mermaid is an animated film produced by Disney in 1989, based on the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen. The film tells the story of Ariel, a curious and rebellious little mermaid who falls in love with Prince Eric, a human who lives on land. In order to reach him, Ariel accepts the pact of the sea witch Ursula, who offers to turn her tail into legs in exchange for her voice. Ariel has only three days to let Eric kiss her or else she will become Ursula's slave forever.

The Little Mermaid is a film that marked the beginning of the Disney Renaissance, a phase of great success and quality for the animation studio. The film is distinguished by the beauty of the images, the liveliness of the characters and the magic of the songs, composed by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Among the most famous are "Under the sea", sung by the crab Sebastian, "Kiss her", which accompanies the romantic boat ride of Ariel and Eric, and "Part of your world", which expresses Ariel's desire to live among humans.

The Little Mermaid is a film about dreams, love and freedom. Ariel is a courageous and determined protagonist, who is not discouraged by the difficulties and oppositions of her father. Eric is a kind and adventurous prince who falls in love with Ariel's personality beyond her looks. Ursula is a wicked and charismatic villain, who represents the danger of manipulation and deception. The secondary characters are funny and nice, such as the faithful Flounder, the funny Scuttle and the strict but affectionate King Triton.

The Little Mermaid is a film that excites and entertains, it is a film that conveys joy, hope and optimism. It is a film that celebrates the power of love, capable of overcoming all obstacles and differences. It is a film that I recommend to everyone, young and old, because it is a masterpiece of animation and fantasy.
